Some decisions in life are hard, like picking which hotpot restaurant to dine at. Obviously we want our money’s worth of succulent meats and mouthwatering sides — but where to go and what to choose? Hotpot isn’t just a meal, it’s a full-on experience, so we’ve scoured Singapore to find the best spots where the broth is hot, the meat is fresh, and the feasting never ends. 😋

01 • Uncle Fong Hotpot Restaurant

(Photo: The Straits Times)

Calling all spice lovers and flavour chasers, this one’s for you. Uncle Fong’s turns up the heat with their legendary house special Chongqing Spicy Soup — flavourful, fiery, and downright addictive. Each hotpot set comes with the option to pick a second soup base alongside the house special, and we loved the tangy tomato soup that cuts through the spice just right.

The co-stars of the show are the ingredients. Freshness is the name of the game here and our favourite picks were the buttery-soft New Zealand lamb slices, tender pork cheek, and the boneless duck. We were also pleasantly surprised to see interesting items like bullfrog legs and live razor clams on the menu, perfect for those wanting something different.

The veggie options are just as impressive — chewy oyster mushrooms, silky beancurd sheets, and crunchy lotus roots are just a few to name. To end the meal, the buttery fried mantou buns are a must-try, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely divine when dunked in sweet condensed milk.

02 • Haidilao

(Photo: Tripadvisor)

A list of the best hotpot spots in Singapore wouldn’t be complete without the ultimate crowd-pleaser, Haidilao. Beyond their rich, flavourful broths (the Tomato soup and fiery Sichuan Spicy soup are must-tries), Haidilao takes customer service to the next level. Free snacks while you wait? Check. A prawn-peeling service for those who refuse to get their hands dirty? Absolutely. Free gel manicures? Say less — this is hotpot luxury at its finest.

As for the feast itself, the selection is divine. Tender Iberico pork, melt-in-your-mouth wagyu, and fresh seafood like Vannamei shrimp and abalone are just a few choices. To complete the meal, toss some shitake mushrooms, tofu skin, and juicy pork meatballs in the broth to soak up all the flavours.

03 • City Hot Pot

(Photo: Guoco Tower)

Have you ever stared at a communal hotpot, watching your friends dump in dubious amounts of cabbage, and thought, “I deserve better”? City Hot Pot gets it. Here, everyone gets their own personal hotpot — so no more pretending to enjoy overcooked beef and suspicious veggies.

With over 15 soup bases to choose from, you’ll be spoiled for choice. If you’re stumped, we recommend the Laksa broth. It’s rich and coconutty with a spicy kick. We also recommend the Tom Yam broth, a tangy flavour bomb that can turn even the simplest of ingredients into a delicacy.

If it’s your first time dabbling in the art of hotpot, their set meals make ordering easy. Each set comes with a mix of meats, vegetables and sides for the full experience. They even have vegetarian sets (a rare gem in the hotpot world) loaded with mushrooms of all kinds, tofu, leafy green, and carb options to fill you up.

The best part? This hotpot is one of the more affordable options on the market, so both your stomach and your wallet will leave happy.

04 • Xiao Long Kan Hotpot

When it comes to hotpot, Xiao Long Kan doesn't mess around — this is Cheng Du-style firepower at its finest. Their Butter Spicy soup is creamy and packed with spice, and every slice of meat cooked in this comes out extra juicy, buttery (duh), and ridiculously flavourful. The Pork Bone soup is another game changer — deeply flavoured and comforting, the kind of broth you’d want to drink straight from the ladle.

The meat assortments are just as solid, featuring everything from fresh seafood to tender American Wagyu and more. They also have all the classic veggies from mushrooms to leafy greens and loads of noodle options to complete the meal.

The best part? If you’re having the midnight munchies, their Bugis outlet is open 24/7. Because no one should be denied the right to dunk premium meats into a bubbling cauldron of spicy, buttery perfection at any time of the day.

If you’ve ever looked at a regular hotpot and wished you could also BBQ everything in sight, then TianXi hotpot is going to be your newfound paradise. This all-you-can-eat hotpot and BBQ is a carnivore’s dream, with unlimited pork belly, US wagyu, prawns, scallops, abalone slices, and more. You can let them cook in the delicious broths, sizzle away on the BBQ hotplate, or do both!

There’s also a spread of classic hotpot veggies, plus lots of rice and noodle options to carb-load your way to happiness. But wait — there’s more. Fried mantou buns, pumpkin pancakes, and dumplings are also available, free flow.

And yes, drinks and desserts also fall into the unlimited category, and the creamy mango sago there is a dessert I still think about fondly. Open till 2am, this spot is perfect for any late-night supper cravings and questionable life choices.

Good halal hotpot can be hard to come by, but Suki Suki is here to save the day with their delicious spread. With 7 different broths to pick from, there’s something for everyone. Our favourite broth is the Nourishing Chicken, which is just as flavourful as it is nutritious. A close second is the creamy, spicy, and sinfully good Singapore Lemak Laksa broth.

They also have a huge variety of fresh ingredients to go with the broths — from chicken strips to premium wagyu, salmon, and even sliced dory fish. Top it off with free-flow veggies, desserts and fresh fruits, and you’ve got a meal that’s basically too good to be true.

07 • Paradise Hotpot

Paradise Hotpot is one of the more premium hotpot joints in Singapore, with ingredients sourced from across the globe to up the hotpot game. Their top-tier meats like sliced US Short Plate, Spanish Pork Collar, and Kurobuta pork are fit for royalty. And let's not forget the array of sides including Japanese crabsticks, fried beancurd skin, and golden brown fried Mantou buns with condensed milk.

As for their hotpot base, our favourite was the Spicy Szechuan Soup — full of heat and adds some kick to the meal. If you’re looking for something a little toned down, we recommend the Herbal Chicken Soup that’s light but packed with meaty flavours.

08 • La Jiang Shan Hotpot

Hotpot, BBQ, and sushi — La Jiang Shan is basically the buffet of dreams. Everything here is self-serve and proves the perfect opportunity to try all the different kinds of meats and sides available. For a steamboat restaurant, their sushi lineup is surprisingly legit, with smoked duck nigiri, crab mayo sushi, and Tamago sushi being a few of the several freshly made sushi available.

As for the fresh ingredients, eye-catchers include mud crabs and crawfish at the seafood bar, pork chops, and even mala-flavoured yakitori. End on a high note with a DIY snow ice bowl, ice cream sundaes, and an unlimited spread of desserts.

Just remember to come hungry, or you might leave with regrets about all the dishes you didn’t have the stomach space for.

09 • Chamoon Hotpot

(Photo: Inline)

If you’re looking for a hotpot that impresses, look no further. Chamoon Hotpot is one of the largest hotpot chains in China, and for good reason too. To start with, their signature Truffle-based Matsutake Mushroom hotpot base is like a love letter to your taste buds — packed with umami truffle flavour, without being too overpowering.

For the spice lovers, their Singapore-exclusive Spicy Mala hotpot soup is a must-try. It’s got that perfect balance of heat and is not too greasy (a win if you ask me). It’s so good that you might just be tempted to drink it from a bowl.

Hotpot is only as good as the ingredients you dunk into it, and Chamoon is here with a premium international spread that will keep your tastebuds happy. They’ve got fresh seafood including live abalone and filleted grouper, and thinly sliced meats like Hokkaido Iberico Pork and Japanese Wagyu. I mean, colour me impressed!

10 • COCA @ Takashimaya

(Photo: COCA Hotpot)

Yes, we’ve covered a bunch of hotpot buffets so far, but COCA takes it up a notch with a buffet that will definitely test your self-control. The most stressful decision at a hotpot is the broth, which can make or break the meal. We recommend the spicy Tom Yum for a spicy kick and the Hua Diao Phoenix base, made with charred chicken for a smoky, fragrant broth.

Now, you can keep it classic with their regular buffet featuring all the classic fixings we know and love, or go all out with the premium buffet. Why settle for less when you can have buttery lobster, snow crab, and ribeye swimming in your pot? Oh, and, did I mention free-flow drinks and dessert?

No matter your pick, you’ll also get to enjoy the house specials. The chicken shrimp wontons we had were stuffed with meaty filling, and the mala pork dumplings delivered just the right amount of spice-induced euphoria. The veggie and carb selection is massive, but the real deals are the cheese tofu and the emperor shiitake. Just leave them to hang out in the broth for a while to get the juiciest bites ever.

11 • Beauty in The Pot

(Photo: Paradise Group)

As the name might suggest, Beaty in The Pot hotpot is all about feeding your stomach and your skin, with tasty broths that double as self-care. Their signature Beauty Collagen Broth is a labour of love, simmered for hours to create its signature silky texture. Meanwhile, the Spicy Nourishing Broth brings the heat and the health benefits, loaded with Chinese herbs for an oriental flavour. With spice levels ranging from what I call a “gentle warmth” to “call the fire department”, this can even be enjoyed by the spice-averse.

Moving on to the ingredients, where do I even start? This spot’s got everything anyone could ever want to hit the spot. The assorted Beef & Pork platter is stacked with premium picks like Wagyu and Kurobuta pork, while the Boston Lobster Seafood Platter comes with Boston lobster, fresh Hokkaido Scallops and more.

If sets are not your thing, the à la carte selection features an endless offering of high-quality beef cuts, silky pork slices, and seafood of all kinds. Everything is extremely fresh, and you can find only the best of the best at this hotpot spot.
