With how often I go to The Star Theatre for shows, Star Vista is practically a second home to me. It’s the quintessential hang-out spot on the weekends, especially with the big stairs and plenty of cute pets to coo at. There’s been some new cool new eateries popping up there, so come check them out — these scrumptious eats will have you dining like a star.

1 • Yo-Chi

Yo-Chi is the hottest new place in Star Vista. This is the Australian brand’s 2nd outlet in Singapore (with the first one in Orchard), and queues are still stretching out the door on weekends. Luckily the line moves pretty fast, because their frozen yoghurt and acai are all self-service. You can choose from over 10 flavours and a variety of sauces and toppings, including more unique items like mango and strawberry mochi. Feel free to mix and match all you want, because pricing starts from a flat $3.50 per 100g.

Their newest addition to the menu is the Yuzu Miso Caramel Sauce, a tasty triple threat of buttery, citrusy, and savoury. If you haven’t tried them out yet, make sure to sign up for their free membership before heading down — you get a 20% off discount just for signing up, and then another $10 off on your birthday (which is honestly pretty generous!)

📍 Address: 1 Vista Exchange Green, #B1-12 The Star Vista, Singapore 138617

2 • Lemuel Chocolate

(Photo: Lemuel Chocolate)

Whenever my friends and I visit Star Vista, we just HAVE to go to Lemuel Chocolate for dessert. This little cafe looks unassuming from the outside, but it’s actually home to the richest, most decadent chocolatey treats I’ve ever had. Lemuel Chocolate is a bean-to-bar artisanal chocolate maker, where you can watch staff temper and mould chocolate right in front of you, filling the store with the loveliest aroma. Their House Gelato ($5.80) is a sublime experience — a dark chocolate treat that is strong but not-too-sweet, and will stay in your memory for days to come.

3 • Soup Restaurant

(Photo: Soup Restaurant)

Their name might be simple, but their meals are far from it. Soup Restaurant is an authentic Chinese heritage diner carrying on the tradition of Samsui women with their signature Samsui Ginger Chicken ($23.90), prepared just like they did in the 1930s. To these women workers, this meal was a luxury that they could only enjoy once a year — tender chicken meat wrapped in crispy lettuce and dipped into special ginger sauce.

Of course, Soup Restaurant wouldn’t be called Soup Restaurant for no reason. Their best-selling series of double-boiled soups is comforting and nourishing, simmered with traditional Chinese herbs.

📍 Address: 1 Vista Exchange Green, #02-22 The Star Vista, Singapore 138617

4 • BHC Chicken

(Photo: BHC Chicken)

BHC Chicken is South Korea’s largest fried chicken chain, and they’ve just landed at Star Vista for all your guilty cravings. Their chicken wings are fried to crispy golden perfection with healthier high-oleic sunflower oil (so that extra piece totally doesn’t count!) Their newest creation is the Mala Khan ($21.90 for half / $34.90 for whole), featuring a specially crafted K-Mala sauce that is addicting and mouth-numbingly spicy.

📍 Address: 1 Vista Exchange Green, #01-29/30 The Star Vista, Singapore 138617

5 • Dewgather Coffee House

(Photo: Dewgather Coffee House)

Inspired by coffee culture down under, Dewgather Coffee House is all about nature, speciality bean roasts, and of course, Vegemite. This place gets pretty crowded during meal times and weekends, but it always manages to serve top-tier comfy vibes with lots of greenery and natural sunlight streaming through the glass roof.

The cafe has a special 3-bean blend for their espresso-based drinks, fittingly named The Star. A classic cup of Espresso ($4 single shot / $4.50 double shot) here gets elevated to the next level — smooth, full-bodied, and with a hint of fruitiness.

📍 Address: 1 Vista Exchange Green, #01-46 The Star Vista, Singapore 138617

6 • Beauty in The Pot

(Photo: Klook)

Hot pot, but make it healthy. Beauty is in the eye of the hotpot-er here, with Beauty in the Pot’s nutritious and delicious soup bases. Yes, you heard that right — you can fully indulge in hot pot here without the greasy, guilty aftermath.

Their famous Beauty Collagen Broth ($17.80 for a half pot) is simmered for over 8 hours every day for a mild and silky-smooth taste, with real collagen bits for supple skin. If you’re craving something more intense, then go for the Spicy Nourishing Broth ($16 for a half pot) and its red-hot Szechuan chilli oil.

7 • Caffè Affogato

(Photo: Caffè Affogato)

Hidden away in the corner of Level 1 is Caffè Affogato, a minimalistic cafe perfect for studying and chilling in. Even though they’re literally called Caffè Affogato, they have a surprisingly large menu of bagels, waffles, and gelato.

Their best-seller Death by Chocolate ($14) might be pricey, but for good reason — it comes with 70% dark chocolate sorbet, chunky brownie bits, chocolate streusel, and a double shot of espresso to really wake you up. And it’s all served in a fancy wine glass for that aesthetic Instagram photo.

8 • Chen's

(Photo: Chen’s)

No, not the EXO star (although he was in Singapore recently!) Chen’s is a sister concept of the Michelin-starred Shisen Hanten, and they’ve recently made their own claim to Michelin Bib Gourmand greatness with their Red Mapo Tofu ($16.90). This signature dish features savoury minced pork in a fiery paste of fermented broad beans and chilli beans, topped off with whole Sichuan peppers.

9 • Pawa Bakery

(Photo: Pawa Bakery)

Sometimes, there’s nothing better than a good bagel. Newly opened in Star Vista last year, Pawa Bakery serves incredibly delicious bagels and loaves from a little kiosk on Level 2. The best part: all their bakes are made with reduced sugar and fat, so you can indulge all you want. Their signature Shio Pan ($2.30) is a pillowy, savoury-sweet delight, made from premium Japanese flour, sea salt, and Anchor salted butter.

The store closes pretty early at 8.30pm, so don’t miss grabbing a bite on your way home!

10 • Warm Up Cafe

(Photo: Google Reviews)

This is the least cafe-like out of all the cafes on this list, but it’s definitely sure to warm you up. Warm Up Cafe is an authentic Thai restaurant, complete with fairy lights, greenery, and photo walls that feel like you’ve stepped into a hipster diner in Chiang Mai. They have a pretty wide range of food here too, from the ever-popular Boat Noodles ($8.90) to the classic Mookata ($88 for 3-4 pax / $53 for 2). This swanky restaurant is open til 3am every day, so it’s a great place to enjoy a late-night supper with your friends.

11 • Foreword Coffee

(Photo: Foreword Coffee)

You can barely spot their storefront from the outside, but don’t hesitate to walk in! Tucked away in the corner of HSBC Bank is Foreword Coffee, a newly-opened coffee shop that is classic and cosy. Their goal is to build a more inclusive society for people with disabilities, one coffee at a time. In fact, more than one-third of their employees are people with disabilities or a mental health need. With this noble mission comes delicious drinks and puffy pastries — pair a vegetarian Cheezy Puff ($4) with a velvety Flat White ($5.30), and you’ve got yourself the perfect breakfast meal.

📍 Address: 1 Vista Exchange Green, #02-23 The Star Vista, Singapore 138617
Opening hours: Mon to Sat, 9.30am – 10pm | Sun, 8.15am – 10pm
