Of course, the Merlion is still around. But Jewel Changi is now the crown jewel of Singapore (pun intended). Known for its iconic rain vortex and indoor forest, this transport hub-cum-mall continues to attract streams of wide-eyed visitors all day, err day.
But did you know that Jewel is also stacked with delicious food? Whether you’re grabbing a meal before your flight or visiting Jewel just because, here are some of my favourite spots for Jewel Changi food. 😋
01 • Kam’s Roast

If you don’t like roast duck, I bet you’ve not had it from Kam’s Roast before. This Michelin-starred restaurant is acclaimed for its Signature Roast Duck ($55 for a whole portion). Crispy skin on the outside and perfectly tender and juicy on the inside, all it takes is one bite to tell that this stuff is of the highest quality. The duck is cut with machine-line precision to ensure that no excess fat is left behind.
Kam’s Roast is far from a one-trick pony, though. Other popular dishes include the Iberico Char Siew ($28.80). It’s delicately roasted without any charred spots you might otherwise find in other places, while the crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth texture will stay fresh in your mind long after.
I’m afraid Kam’s Roast has spoilt my taste buds now, but I’m not complaining. 😋

02 • Kantin

Sure, you could hop on a flight in Changi Airport and fly across the South China Sea to Sarawak for some authentic Bornean food. But what if I told you you could do just that at a restaurant in the airport mall instead? 😉
Kantin is on a mission to transport you to Borneo with must-tries like the Sarawak Laksa ($18), which comes with a rich broth made of coconut milk and a plethora of spices. What sets Sarawak laksa apart from its peninsula counterpart is its mildness. While this dish does contain a wide range of spices, it still manages to strike a delicate flavour. Instead of huffing and puffing from the heat of a regular bowl of laksa, you can enjoy the slight spicy and umami tangs of this one.
Pair your meal with a refreshing drink, like the Milo Truck Milkshake ($12). Fight me on this, but Milo from a Milo truck is simply superior in taste and consistency, and Kantin has somehow managed to capture that in a milkshake. Shiok! 🤤

03 • Poulet Bijou

Why dine humbly when you can feast like royalty (on a budget)? Cue Poulet Bijou, a contemporary French restaurant dedicated to serving a wallet-friendly haute cuisine experience, which is known for its meticulous preparation, elaborate presentation, and high-quality ingredients.
Their pièce de résistance is the Signature Roast Chicken ($32.90 for a whole chicken). The meat is so tender that it comes off its bone so easily with the slightest touch of your fork. When dipped in the accompanying silky mushroom cream sauce, the heavenly combination can trick you into thinking you’re Emily in Paris. ✨
They say we’re bestowed with a second stomach for dessert, and here, you can put it to good use. The Poulet Bijou outlet in Jewel distinguishes itself from the rest by serving an exclusive French dessert menu.
This includes decadent treats like the Vanilla French Toast ($15.90), an illegally thick slice of perfectly caramelised, slightly sizzling toast topped with yoghurt ice cream and strawberries. The ice cream allows you to enjoy the French toast without singeing your tongue, creating the ultimate sweet treat to top off your dining experience.

04 • Mamma Mia Trattoria E Caffé

When I crave something fancy before payday, few places come to my mind — and Mamma Mia is one of them. This budget-friendly trattoria creates an inclusive and unintimidating Italian dining experience for even the most broke, like me. 🥲
They serve options you’d expect from any Italian restaurant, like Tortiglioni Spicy Pink Sauce ($8.50) and Spaghetti with Turkey Strip & Chicken Carbonara ($13.50). But they also have unique ones, like Linguine with Spicy Chicken Katsu & Japanese Curry Sauce ($13.50), a playful weave of Italian and Japanese flavours.
I got super curious when I saw it on the menu, so naturally, I had to try it. The dish came with a light layer of Japanese curry, so I got its trademark sweet-and-savoury punch, yet it didn’t hijack the taste away from the smooth linguine pasta. I’d definitely order it again.
The rice dishes are no less delicious. One of the bestsellers is the Sea Bass Fillet Lemon Risotto ($16.50). The risotto is creamy and smooth and pairs well with the subtle sweetness of the sea bass. It’s so good you’ll feel like licking the plate clean. 🙈

05 • Tsuta Japanese Soba Noodles

Another Michelin-starred restaurant in Jewel is Tsuta. This Japanese place is the brainchild of Chef Yuki Onishi, who has a vision to constantly improve Japanese ramen. He believes that food shouldn’t be prepared with artificial ingredients like added MSG, and his menu is a testament to this philosophy.
It’s a cardinal sin to go to Tsuta and not order the Original Truffle Shoyu Soba ($17.80 for a regular serving). That’s because you’d miss out on the slightly chewy texture of the ramen, which is a sign of uncompromising standards, and the succulent char siu slices. The broth, arguably the star of the show, is something no sane person should miss. It lends every ingredient an aromatic and slightly briny taste without overwhelming your palate. I’m usually not a fan of broth, but this one turns me into a ravenous monster.
For sides, grab the Spicy Salmon Maki ($19.80). This roll of carb goodness comes drizzled with kani mayo sauce and packs a sweet and spicy kick to complement your main. 100% no regrets!

06 • NY Char Grill

NY Char Grill has the chops to turn even the staunchest K-BBQ haters into passionate converts. Perhaps the most special thing about this place is that you won’t find it anywhere else in Singapore.
Cook up a mean feast with their range of fresh meats and seafood — from beef brisket ($13.90 for 100g) and Iberico pork jowl ($13.90 for 100g) to salmon ($15 for 100g) and chicken thigh ($5 for 100g).
Once cooked, dip each juicy slab in various flavourful sauces and chow down like a hungry wolf (or a demure diva, up to you). My favourite is the garlic chilli sauce, which lends each cut of meat a tangy and savoury profile.
The real deal of NY Char Grill is its banchan. I don’t know about you, but when I have K-BBQ, my mouth gets impatient as I wait for the meat to cook. That’s not a problem at this place, where you can dig into fruit salad, kimchi, and edamame. My absolute favourite side was the smooth and buttery potato salad. The potato chunks were soft, too. I must’ve refilled it a thousand times.

07 • Hakka Yu

Ever had Hakka cuisine? This distinct cooking style preserves the robust natural flavours of ingredients through slow-cooking methods.
Hakka Yu has been serving hungry diners for years in China, and now, they’re doing the same on our little island. If you have minimal space in your tummy — which isn’t ideal when you come to a restaurant like this — go for the Salt-Baked Chicken ($35.60 for a whole chicken). This classic Hakka dish masterfully balances out saltiness and the natural fragrance of chicken to bring out the full flavours of each ingredient. It’s meticulously baked in-house only twice a day, which is telling of the restaurant’s dedication towards quality.
I also couldn’t get enough of the Hakka Stuffed Tofu ($12.80). Frankly, I was hesitant to try it because of my slight aversion to tofu. But to my surprise, the soft and silky textures of the beancurd, along with the well-seasoned meat, blew my expectations away!

08 • Tambuah Mas

Tambuah Mas is one of Jewel Changi’s newest openings, dishing out homestyle Indonesian meals. It’s helmed by Indonesian chefs who carefully prepare well-guarded family recipes from Padang, Sulawesi, and Java — so you know authenticity is never debatable here.
For starters, go for the Nasi Goreng Istimewa ($18.50), which comes with almost everything you can think of — traditional fried rice, prawns, acar, fried egg, chicken satay, and prawn crackers. This dish is an unabashed celebration of herbs and spices native to the Malay Archipelago.
What’s a Southeast Asian meal without a dessert that sends sugary shockwaves down your throat? Try the Es Teler ($6), a cool and refreshing blend of avocado, jackfruit, and young coconut meat in coconut milk. The natural sweetness from the fresh ingredients isn’t something you’d typically find in most regular desserts. It’s perfect for Singapore’s unforgiving sunny days.

09 • SugarBelly

Who would’ve thought you could turn mochi into a…doughnut?! I never thought I would see those two words together, but there’s a place called SugarBelly that offers mochi doughnuts. And they taste insanely good!
Not only do the doughnuts have a crispy exterior and an incredibly chewy inside, but the store also constantly brings rare flavours like the tried-and-tested cinnamon flavour. This unassuming pick delivers warmth and sweetness to your taste buds.
For something more indulgent, check out the KitKat Chocolate doughnut, which comes with flaky chocolate toppings and a cute KitKat bridge across the doughnut hole. The chocolate seeps more and more of its rich flavour with every chew. Yummer!
These delectable doughnuts come in a box of 3 ($18) or 6 ($36). Pair them with SugarBelly's matcha on tap for a memorable trip to dessert town. Their Iced Matcha Latte ($6) has a pleasant sweetness that’s balanced by the earthiness of matcha. If you thought TikTok was addictive, you just found a close contender!

10 • Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory & Cow Cow Kitchen

I kept the best for the last. Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory & Cow Cow Kitchen is my ultimate go-to for dessert whenever I’m in Jewel Changi. This dessert paradise uses only the highest quality cheese, and it has just about everything to satisfy dairy lovers.
Their Milk Soft Serve on Vintage Cheesecone ($7.50) is my all-time favourite. Sadly, many places don’t get the difference between milk and vanilla right, but you don’t have to worry about that here. The taste of the milk in the ice cream is simply unmissable.
Another special item on their menu is the Milk Pie ($3.80 for 1 piece). This pastry hides a soft, custard-like milk filling within its crumbly crust, the way treasure is hidden in a chest. Only those willing to try it will understand its charm. Trust me, you’ll devour it quicker than you’d like.
