Children have a knack for getting into the most unlikely spots. Equipped with bodies bursting with energy and flexible limbs, and faced with a world built for people taller than them, it’s only natural for young children to clamber and climb on every available surface. So why not give them a chance to climb to their hearts’ content in a safe, controlled environment?

Thanks to the burgeoning popularity of bouldering and rock climbing in Singapore, there’s no shortage of specialised gyms that are safe for kids. These gyms are kitted out with soft floors, safety equipment, and trained staff, so you’ll have peace of mind while your young ones tucker themselves out.

01 • Outpost Climbing

If you feel like your tots might be a little too young or rambunctious for “real” rock climbing, Outpost Climbing is a great place for them to try the sport. For young climbers aged 2 and up, Outpost has a dedicated Fun Zone filled with themed and simplified climbing walls. From a wall made out of giant lego to a climbable snakes and ladders board, these walls are almost as fun to look at as they are to climb.

05 • Power Kids Gym

This one’s for the little kids. And I mean little. So little that they’d probably benefit more from pebble-climbing classes — but if they still want to partake in the joy of climbing, here’s one for them.

Power Kids holds classes for children as young as 6 months old (babies have a monstrous grip) and boasts appropriately kid-sized climbing walls and equipment to match. Their play area also has a whole collection of child-proofed obstacles, such as stairs, bridges, and balancing beams, for your tot to develop their motor skills.
