Polestar was originally a Swedish racing team, so it’s no surprise that their models struck the perfect balance between form and function when they pivoted to designing electric vehicles (EVs). In 2019, they debuted with the Polestar 1, featuring a sleek body and powerful electric engine with impressive horsepower.
With the Polestar 2, they’ve levelled up their game by crafting an even more premium driving experience that’ll delight your senses. With its state-of-the-art technology, buttery-smooth acceleration, and minimalist interior, you’ll never want the journey to end. Join us for an electrifying first drive with the Polestar 2 in Singapore and see why it should be at the top of your list for your next booking! ⚡
Exterior and design
The first thing that caught our eye was its aerodynamic body complemented by thoughtful details. Far from your everyday sedan, the Polestar 2 features front headlights that reflect Polestar’s history as a racing team — much like a sports car, the lights rest on the car’s lowered front end facing upwards.
The adaptive rear light-blade shifts brightness according to weather conditions to improve visibility. Even cooler, it lights up with a welcome or goodbye sequence upon contact with the driver’s door handle! With such innovative tech, this car is perfect for the young and young-at-heart. 💙
The Polestar’s futuristic design is further enhanced by the bezel-less side mirrors, which are a nice touch to the overall look of the car. Aside from boosting the vehicle’s sleek aesthetic, it also increases the field of view for added safety.
With its clean-cut silhouette and ultra-modern vibe, the Polestar 2’s initial impression left us more than excited to hop in the driver’s seat.
Interior and practicality
One of the best features of the Polestar 2 is that it detects your arrival simply from the presence of your key fob. This feature allows the vehicle to automatically unlock when you touch the door handle and start the engine as soon as you sit in the driver’s seat. It also welcomes you by loading your favourite playlist and adjusting your seat and mirrors to your saved preferences. These features make the Polestar 2’s interior feel like stepping into the future.
Once you settle in, give the sound system a whirl. The Polestar 2 has Harman Kardon premium speakers for that perfect symphony of balanced frequencies and immersive depth. The infotainment system can also connect to all your Google apps to easily access anything you need during your drive.
At the centre console, there is a wireless charging pad for smartphones equipped with Qi technology, allowing for easy phone charging without cables. Crisp white ambient lighting makes it even easier to locate your odds and ends. In addition, every button, switch, and lever has a great tactile feel for a smooth sensory experience.
A fan favourite is the Polestar’s panoramic roof, which stretches over your heads and makes the cabin feel more spacious. The rear passengers have the best view, as they can enjoy the full length of the glass ceiling. It even has a UV-resistant coating to minimise the heat and radiation while maximising the fun. Whether you want to impress your date or entertain your kids, this car has something for everyone. ✨
The car is a little tighter on space in the back, as with most compact sedans, and the lower headroom may be confining for taller passengers. However, the comfy and ergonomic seats make up for this. They’re even equipped with individual temperature controls, so everyone in the family can customise their journey.
Meanwhile, the rear boot holds up to 407 litres of luggage with the seats up and 1,097 litres if the seats are down. This easily accommodates suitcases, strollers, bikes, and more. There’s also an extra 41 litres of storage space under the front hood, just in case you need it for a big day out.
Driving and technology
It’s said that the Polestar 2 is “the driver’s EV”, which was apparent from the start of our journey. While all passengers will have a good time, it’s truly built for a great driving experience. What we liked was the digital driver’s display. It toggles between Calm mode to show only the speed and battery levels and Navigation mode, providing more information about the route and traffic conditions.
Our drive was smooth, with quick acceleration that could’ve taken us from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.4 seconds. Steering was very responsive, and the car rounds corners effortlessly due to its fantastic weight distribution (as the battery is located low and central in the chassis). This means the Polestar 2 has no trouble navigating narrow car parks and urban roads. We found braking to be just as well-designed, with the car decelerating immediately after your foot is taken off the accelerator pedal. Overall the Polestar 2 is a complete package, delivering both a sporty feel and a pleasure to drive. 💖
The EV can juice up from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes through 150W DC charging. Its range promises up to 478km with a full charge, although this depends on your driving speed and style.
To help you with your drive, the version of Google Maps installed in the car checks your battery levels and looks for charging spots to recommend a route. The in-car range assistant goes the extra mile by showing you real-time EV energy consumption updates by tracking your speed, driving style, and climate settings. Based on this, it displays the projected range on your dashboard and automatically adjusts the climate system to maximise your battery.

This EV is also packed with safety features to ensure that you and your family are well-protected. It’s equipped with 3 radar units, 5 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to take note of its surroundings, compute the road situation, and avoid possible collisions. There’s also a 360-degree camera to help with parking — giving you a virtual bird’s eye view of the car on the central display screen.
In addition, the car can read traffic signs and display them on the dashboard. The Driver Alert Control function sends out sounds and notifications if it detects a sleepy or distracted driver. It also has classics like adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, and blind spot alerts. These features will make you feel like you have a personal driving assistant along for the ride. 💪
In case you’re curious, all these features are encased in the Polestar’s steel and aluminium chassis, which enhances protection in the event of a collision. The Front Lower Load Path absorbs the impact of a forward collision, making it safer for those in the car and preventing damage to the battery.
Conclusion
The future of driving is here, and it looks exciting, eco-friendly, and high-tech. The Polestar 2 is ideal for families and friends, offering a seamless fusion of elegance and security. Tech enthusiasts will be particularly pleased with everything this EV offers. Why not book a drive and experience it for yourself?
