Though the humble staycation enjoyed a brief period of popularity in pandemic-era Singapore, its fame seems to have waned in recent years, usurped by trips to Japan and Europe. But if you’re looking to skip the hassle of flights and the pressure of trying to make the most of your time in another country, a staycation in Singapore is still the best way to catch up on some much-needed R&R with your family.
With the holidays coming up, there’s no better time to book a local staycation and get your family the pampering they deserve. If you’ve got your sights set a little further, be sure to take stock of 2025’s long weekends so you can start making plans now.
01 • D’resort @ Downtown East
(Photo adapted from: D’Resort and Wild Wild Wet)
How often do you get to stay at a resort with a 4-hectare water park? D’resort is located right at the edge of local entertainment mainstay Wild Wild Wet. In fact, it’s so close that some of its rooms will actually give you a view of the waterpark’s array of slides.
The resort also offers guests exclusive ticket prices to the water park. But if your kids are hydrophobic, your family staycation will also be within spitting distance of a horse stable, a bowling alley, an indoor playground, and plenty of things for even the pickiest kids to do.
02 • PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay

The PARKROYAL COLLECTION has long been one of Singapore’s most impressive hotels, but the recently launched Gnome’s Land package makes it a top pick for anyone looking for an unforgettable family staycation in Singapore. The Gnome’s Treehouse and Gnome’s Burrow rooms are quite unlike any hotel room we’ve ever seen. They’re specially designed to encourage all sorts of climbing, hiding, and playing.
If that wasn’t cool enough, the package also includes a Sustainable Urban Farm Tour, a DIY Terrarium Milk Pudding Class, and all sorts of gnome-themed gifts to give your staycation even more shire swag (Lord of the Rings, anyone?).
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll have to see if there’s any way for grown adults to get in on some of these goodies, too… 🙈
03 • Shangri-La Singapore

We’ve covered Shangri-La Singapore’s buffet before, and we think that the hotel’s Themed Family Suite Staycation package deserves a spot, too.
Take your pick from 5 different themed suites and expect fun to start the moment you enter your room — as you’ll be greeted with an array of bathtime toys and $200 worth of dining and spa credits per night at the hotel’s array of facilities.
Once you’ve settled in, head to Buds, Shangri-La’s expansive play area for kids, which hosts frequent baking and classical music workshops. Hint for any parents who need to catch up on their Z’s: Buds is kept under the watchful eye of Shangri-La’s staff, so parents can drop their kids off in good hands.
04 • Intercontinental Singapore Robertson Quay

Anyone who has older kids knows how hard it can be to impress them. In these cases, simplicity is the best. The Intercontinental Singapore’s Robertson Quay is right at the heart of the super-new and super-happening New Bahru district. Its prime location means you and your children can explore in comfort, knowing that your luxurious suites are just a stroll away.
If you want something to memorialise your staycation, help yourself to the Stay and Play package, where your family can make their very own leather luggage tags at local leather artisan Crafune.

05 • Mandarin Oriental
(Photo: Holidays With Kids)
The Mandarin Oriental is located smack dab in the middle of Marina Bay, and any of its rooms would make for a great staycation in Singapore as you’ll be treated to a fantastic view of the scenery. But if you want to really let your kids go wild (while still enjoying the hotel’s 5-star amenities), we recommend the Family Theme Suite booking.
These sleek and dreamy suites come in three shades: Space, Safari, and Sea. Each suite is fitted with a bunk bed and exciting children’s amenities.
Your young ones will be playing and eating well, as each stay also has free all-day dining for kids at the hotel’s restaurant, Embu, which includes a specialised children’s dining area.
06 • Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore
(Photo: booking.com)
If you want the best of both worlds and to extend your year-end fun, consider wrapping up your overseas trip with a staycation in Singapore. The Dusit Thani is just a 10-minute drive from Changi Airport, and there’s no other hotel quite like it in Singapore.
Away from the hustle of the city, your room at the Dusit Thani will overlook the hotel’s three sparkling pools and golf course, with barely any high-rises in sight.
To sweeten your stay, get the Family Funcation Package and be showered in a whole list of complementaries, including a round of 9-hole golf, admission to Jewel Changi’s Canopy Park, and transport to Changi Airport and Marina Bay Sands.
07 • M Hotel Singapore

Not to be outdone by sister hotel M Social Singapore, M Hotel Singapore has partnered with Kidztopia to offer guests a Nautical Family Suite Package that every member of the family will love. This suite is decked out front to back with a seafaring theme, a jacuzzi filled with rubber duckies, and all sorts of plushies and toys, courtesy of Kidztopia.
Every stay at the Family Suite comes with a free afternoon high tea, entry to Marina Square’s Kidztopia, and a bottle of champagne in your room — sorry kids, this one’s just for the grown-ups!
08 • Village Hotel Sentosa
(Photo: TFE Hotels)
It takes a village to raise a child, but what about a hotel? Village Hotel’s Sentosa branch was designed from the ground up to accommodate all families, and the fun starts from the moment you check in to your Village Playcation.
Once they enter the hotel’s doors, your young ones will be rushing to the Very Important Kids counter, where they’ll get to check in on their parent’s behalf, and receive a novelty hotel key and welcome kit for their efforts. When they’re settled in, the whole family can enjoy 4 pools, one of which has movie nights every Friday and Saturday.
