You just got your driving licence and you’re ready for your first drive — congrats and welcome to the party! 🙌

If buying your own car isn’t really an option right now, carsharing might be worth checking out. It allows you to rent a car without worrying about things like petrol, COE, insurance, and maintenance. In other words, you get to drive without the financial burden of car ownership — and you can pay as you go. Sounds cool, right?

Check out some of these cars in our fleet that are perfect for new drivers like you. Then, start gathering your squad for that road trip you’ve always wanted to take.

01 • Suzuki Swift

Small, cute, and easy to drive. Those are the words that best describe the unassuming Suzuki Swift. This little hatchback may not seem like much, but trust us when we say that this model is considered one of the easiest cars in the world to drive.

The car’s cabin is pretty standard and offers little to no difficulty for drivers to get used to its controls.

Plus, its petite size makes parking it a breeze — and that’s invaluable when it comes to driving on city roads or parking in multi-storey car parks.

02 • Mazda 3/Mazda 3 Hatchback

If you’ve had about a year of driving experience or simply prefer driving a classic sedan instead of a hatchback or an SUV, the Mazda 3 needs to be on your cardar (like radar, but for must-drive cars). A popular car on Singapore’s roads, it’s very manoeuvrable, has responsive steering, and does extremely well at sharp or tight turns. Parking is also easy with this one.

Another bonus is that the Mazda 3 offers a comfortable interior. When you’re on the road, especially as a new driver, you don’t want to be thinking about too many things — and this car really makes driving a worry-free affair.

03 • Toyota Sienta/Sienta Hybrid

An MPV is probably the last thing you’d think of driving in the city, but the Toyota Sienta is perfectly suited for small spaces and tight turns. This car has an incredibly compact build, yet it comes with enough roomy boot space to carry your bags on a family day out, store picnic essentials, or even ferry a baby stroller.

Not only that, but the Sienta is also fitted with electrically operated rear doors for greater convenience — all you have to do is push the button to open or close them.

04 • Ssangyong Tivoli/Tivoli XLV

The Ssangyong Tivoli is proof that there are SUVs out there that are easy to drive. With good handling, short braking distance, and a steering wheel that’s very responsive, it makes a great beginner SUV.

The other advantage of driving the Tivoli is that you’ll be seated quite high up, giving you a much better view of the road. This vantage point allows for easier parking, reversing, and navigating your car through tight spaces.

05 • Honda Vezel

The Honda Vezel cuts a stylish figure and is designed for smooth and easy handling. With a compact shape, intuitive accelerator and brake pedals, and a responsive steering wheel that turns like a dream, it offers a simple and stress-free driving experience.

The convenience this car offers extends to its interior too. For instance, it has a physical knob to control the air-conditioner, so you can continue to drive without needing to take your eyes off the road.

06 • Hyundai IONIQ 5

Whether you’re environmentally conscious or just love the idea of driving electric vehicles, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is a must-drive. With a cool exterior that gives off sci-fi vibes and a super-comfy cabin, you’ll feel as if you’ve entered a spaceship from the future.

The technologies fitted in this car are top notch and include a fully digital cluster that displays all the important info you need like car speed and battery charge level.

Not just that, you’ll also be treated to 8 built-in BOSE high-performance speakers — imagine playing your favourite tunes on them! 🤩

Driving-wise, the car sports good acceleration. Speed is easy to control too, and the brakes are smooth and reliable. Charging is pretty straightforward, especially because the car’s charging port is located in a similar location to a regular car’s filler inlet. All in all, it’s a thrilling EV experience!

By the way, if you’re planning to brush up on your driving skills just a bit more, ComfortDelGro Driving Centre is offering the Skill, Standard & Safe Driver Training Course (3’S) and the Defensive Driving Course with a $20 discount exclusively for GetGoers.
