Want a break from the city’s fast-paced life? We recently found a tranquil spot called Gardenasia, which should be on your bucket list of places to explore in Singapore. Read on to find out more.
Gardenasia is a hidden gem in the larger Kranji Countryside, which aims to preserve the rural parts of Singapore and promote local agriculture. It features a farm-to-table restaurant that serves delicious food and a cosy farm stay experience that offers a relaxing break from urban living.
Driving down the long road to Gardenasia is akin to going on a therapeutic getaway, with sweeping views of a shimmering river on your left and the Johor Strait on the right.
Bistro by Gardenasia
One of the first things you’ll encounter is Bistro, Gardenasia’s farm-to-table restaurant, which surrounds an expansive pond filled with fish. The bistro’s unique setting allows for alfresco dining with dishes made with the freshest ingredients, some of which are sourced from local farms.
You can even purchase locally sourced alcoholic beverages like Matcha Milkshake, Raspberry Peach Australian Sparkling Ale, and more. Just remember to let someone else handle the wheel if you’re planning to get a drink.
Bistro’s standout dish has to be the Assam Fish Chowder with Prata, which is made in collaboration with a local fish farmer and The Soup Spoon. Let the soup’s spices tease your taste buds as the tantalising fish and airy prata flake away in your mouth. The prata, when dipped into the flavourful broth, is truly heaven’s pairing.
Complete your meal with a choice of vegetable gelato or goat’s milk gelato, which are rare in Singapore.
The Round Spinach Gelato feels like a breath of fresh air, with its refreshing and slightly milky flavour that creatively disguises the leafy taste of spinach. If you’re trying to get your kids to eat more veggies, this dessert will do the trick.
Another flavour worth trying is the Honeycomb Gelato. The nutty honeycomb intertwined with the subtle flavour of the goat’s milk leaves a pleasant sweetness in your mouth that’ll make you want more.

The Local Farm Grocer
Right behind the bistro is a quaint grocery store that sells fresh produce harvested and packed the same day. You’ll know this from the crunch in every bite.
One important thing to note before visiting is that the produce for sale may differ, as it’s dependent on what the farmers have in excess for that day.
Gardenasia Farmstay
Gardenasia also includes four black-and-white colonial houses built for British officials and military personnel in the early 1900s. This is one of the rare opportunities available to book a stay in a Colonial-era villa in Singapore, as the remaining houses in the area are owned by the government and require long-term residency.
Despite their long history, these residences are perfectly refurbished with modern interiors. They have a loft structure and are dotted with either an English, Oriental, or Contemporary flair. Check out the Begonia villa, which follows the English style.
Furthermore, these houses are equipped with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. They’re all fully air-conditioned and come with free access to the tennis court, lap pool, and more. There’s also a wide array of amenities including toothbrushes, shampoo, and bottled water.
Pets are also allowed to stay here, so bring your fur babies along for some extra fun! Imagine chilling by the emerald pool with your loved ones while sipping an ice-cold drink amidst lush greenery.
With Gardenasia just a drive away, you don’t have to travel far to recharge your batteries. Instead of booking an airline ticket, why not treat yourself to a convenient staycation on our own island? 🏝
