Can you believe January is ending soon? We still have 11 months to get through, so here are some weekend recommendations to help you recharge for the new month ahead. 💃
01 • Godaime (halal)
If you fancy dry ramen, don’t miss Godaime. The restaurant offers maze soba, a Japanese brothless ramen with meat, green onions, and runny yolk. Unlike traditional ramen, maze soba bowls come with thick umami gravy and wheat noodles instead of soba noodles.
Choose from signatures like the Aburi Chicken Maze Soba, Chicken Chashu Mentai Maze Soba, and Beef Suki Maze Soba. If you’re not a fan of wheat noodles, try the Chicken Minced Meat Mazedon (rice bowl) or Maze Soba options with ramen noodles instead.
Swing by at noon and snag their lunch set, which comes with a main, a choice of side dishes like Chicken Gyoza, and a drink like Houji Tea or Ice Lemon Tea — from just $11.90.

Monzen@Gardens’ donburi bowls are made from carefully sourced ingredients and sashimi that’s delivered fresh daily. Seafood lovers should give the Bara Chirashi Don a shot, as it’s packed with a mix of diced salmon, tuna, swordfish sashimi, tamago (Japanese omelette), and sushi rice topped with tobiko.
Another highlight is Wagyu Beef Don, which features sizzling Wagyu beef slices on a bed of sushi rice bed, smothered with house-made truffle sauce and a gooey egg perched on the top. Yum! 🤤

03 • Umai

Umai is arguably Singapore’s first artisanal udon bar specialising in all things udon. The restaurant has a menu with 4 different types of udon, ranging from the usual sanuki udon noodles to the renowned wide and flat himokawa noodles.
Choose from enticing best-sellers like the Miso Carbonara, which is a unique dish consisting of 72-hour slow-cooked black pork, applewood smoked bacon, duck with aged Romano cheese, and a drizzle of crème de parmesan.
For a more spicy kick, opt for the Chilli Pan Mee, which combines the rich flavours of black pork, silver anchovies, caramelised clam sauce, and spicy shrimp aioli.

04 • WOKE Ramen (halal)

We’re sure you’ve had ramen before, but what about wok hei ramen?
At WOKE Ramen, the noodles are first stir-fried in woks to create that mouth-watering wok-hei taste before they’re dropped into the broth of your choice.
Check out the Chicken Chashu Collagen Ramen, a dish with chicken bones and cartilage simmered for over 8 hours to create a rich collagen layer. Seafood lovers shouldn’t miss their Seafood Mix Prawn Ramen, which is loaded with prawn paste balls, tiger prawns, and scallops in a rich broth with an addictive peppery flavour.
Don’t dive straight into the mains — their crispy Chicken Kaarage or WOKE Gyoza are an experience of their own! 🥟
