It’s hard to believe how quickly time flies — we’re already in the last weekend of August! Don’t let it pass by without treating yourself to some delicious food and fresh experiences.

01 • Aziz Jaffar Muslim Food (halal)

This humble hawker stall in Chinatown Point serves up a mean spread of Muslim dishes, and it has 4.5 stars on Google for a reason. Although known for its spicy and sweet Mee Siam, the Nasi Lemak Sambal Goreng is the real deal to us. It strikes a balance between its creamy and fragrant coconut rice and spicy sambal. Topped with a flavourful bergedil, this dish is simply unmissable.

The best part about nasi lemak is that you can have it at any time of the day, so why not head down for breakfast?

Believe it or not, this hawker stall at the Maxwell Food Centre sells a variety of whole steamed fish starting from just $8! One of its specialities is the Hong Kong-style Steamed Sea Bass Fillet. The delicate sweetness of the fresh fish is complemented perfectly by the mild and umami-packed soy sauce base. If you’re not into fish, opt for their HK Style Steamed Prawn or Boiled Sotong instead, which are equally delicious. 😋

If you’re on the lookout for an affordable yet authentic Peranakan meal, this quaint hawker stall in Golden Mile Food Centre is where you need to be. Charlie has been cooking up delicious Peranakan food since the 1980s, from the classic Beef Rendang, that’s buttery and tender, to the lesser-known Nangka Lemak. The latter is a dish comprising young jackfruit boiled in a spicy and decadent coconut broth.

Trust us when we say that the flavours will linger on your tongue for hours after. 🌶️
