Want to become a carsharing pro? Whether you’re an experienced GetGoer or new to the community, our simple guide will help you maximise your trips while ensuring the next driver enjoys a comfortable journey, too. 🙌🏼
01 • Leave the car spotless
The first rule of thumb for becoming a top-notch GetGoer is to keep your car clean and tidy for yourself and the person after you. There’s a reason why Pocahontas said, “And we’re all connected to each other”, and this is especially true in our carsharing community, where keeping cars clean is a collective responsibility.
Always bring along a small rubbish bag for tossing any receipts, tissues, and other bits that may accumulate during your drive. This way, you don’t have to rush to clean up everything at the end of your journey.
When you’re ready to end your booking, do a quick check under the seats, in the cup holders, and in the door pockets for any forgotten items or rubbish. 🗑
02 • Be mindful of odours

There are few sins that are as big as subjecting the next driver’s nose to unpleasant odours. Foul smells lead to uncomfortable drives and time wasted, as you’ll need to spend time airing out the car.
When driving our vehicles, please avoid eating strong-smelling foods inside the car. If you munch on something small and simple during your drive, please roll down the windows so that the smell of the food doesn’t linger.
Smoking in the car should also be avoided, as it leaves an unpleasant odour that’s hard to get rid of. Besides, isn’t it better to take your smoke break outside in a designated smoking area under the blue sky and sprawling clouds?
03 • Return your car on time
Returning your car on time goes beyond good manners — it’s essential for keeping booking times running smoothly for everyone. By consistently ending your bookings on time, you’re not only avoiding late return fees but also ensuring that the next GetGoer is able to start their journey on time.
Some of our favourite hacks for punctual returns are setting reminders with your phone’s alarm or calendar alerts and adding buffer time for traffic.
04 • Keep furry friends in pet carriers

One of the benefits of carsharing is the ability to bring your pets out. However, it’s important to keep them in a pet carrier to avoid fur-shedding and to prevent distractions and injuries while the car is moving. It’s similar to keeping little kids strapped safely to their baby seats.
For extra safety, you can even secure the carrier with a seatbelt to keep it from sliding around.
Lastly, remember to do a once-over with a lint roller at the end of your drive to remove any pet fur from the seats or mats.
05 • Start and end your journey right
Before you hit the road, be sure to inspect the car’s exterior and interior. If you notice any scratches, dents, or other issues, please report them through the GetGo app. This protects you from liability for pre-existing damage.
If you enjoy trying out different cars, familiarise yourself with essential controls like headlights, windscreen wipers, and indicators. Each car model may have slightly different layouts, so it’s worth spending a moment to see where every function is located. You can also check out our Vehicle User Guides for more information.
Another important step to ensure peace of mind is to report your car’s condition after your booking. Similar to the pre-trip report, the post-trip report protects you from being liable for damages you’re not responsible for.
06 • Plan efficient routes

Not planning your route can cost you precious time and money. Fortunately, we live in a world where technology can make this task easier.
Use apps like Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze to find the most efficient route and see real-time traffic updates. These tools can also suggest alternative routes and help you avoid unexpected jams. When jams occur though, following a longer route with less traffic can be more efficient.
07 • Venture beyond your comfort zone

Make no mistake — although Singapore is a small country, it’s peppered with a diverse range of activities and many hidden gems. And what better way to explore them than with the convenience and comfort of a GetGo car?
Drive to quirky and quaint neighbourhoods like Tiong Bahru, take a random exit off the expressway to see where it leads you, or find the best brunch spots across the island. There are endless possibilities to explore during your drives.
💡 Pro tip: Plan your route in advance to maximise your booking time by visiting multiple spots in one trip.
08 • Make the most of promos and off-peak hours
Here’s our final tip: you can enjoy savings by being strategic with your drives.
For one, our off-peak hours have lower rates, so if your schedule allows, try booking during these periods. Typically, weekdays and early mornings tend to be less busy, which translates into better prices and more vehicle availability for you.
In addition, you can use promo codes to save on your drives, so remember to stay updated by subscribing to our communications. Also, don’t forget to check out our GetDeals page to take advantage of exclusive discounts on dining, family fun, and more.
See you on the road!
