Whether you’re a first-time car owner or have had one for a while, it might be time for you to either apply for or renew your HDB season parking. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about HDB season parking and managing it easily. 🤝

What is HDB season parking?

HDB season parking is a monthly subscription parking system that lets you park your car at a designated HDB carpark for an extended period of time. HDB residents who are vehicle owners usually apply for HDB season parking to save on daily parking charges.

Those who’d like to park vehicles at an HDB carpark near their workplace can also apply for another season parking at a higher rate (we’ll dive more into that later).

Apart from HDB season parking, there’s also the Family Season Parking (FSP). FSP serves as the go-to option if you’re a vehicle owner who regularly visits your family members who live separately. Both parking systems require monthly subscriptions for long-term parking.

If you’re wondering whether or not subscribing to HDB season parking is worth it, here’s a breakdown of charges for short-term parking and HDB season parking.

Say, you live outside Central Area and park your car at an HDB carpark for 12 hours every day without season parking. That’s $14.40 everyday, which adds up to $432 per month.

With HDB season parking, regardless of whether you park for 12 hours or more, it’s a flat fee of $80 (surface or kerbside carpark) or $110 (sheltered or multi-storey carpark) per month. Roughly speaking, you can save up to $352 each month or $4,224 every year.

The cost that we mentioned above would apply to you if you’re a first-time car owner living in an HDB area near the carpark. This is because you’d fall under Tier 1 of the HDB season parking rates.

If you’re a non-resident or applying for season parking for your subsequent cars, you’d fall under Tier 2. Please refer to the table below for the differences in season parking charges for Tiers 1 and 2.

Location / Carpark Tier 1 Tier 2
Restricted Zone / Car-lite Precinct (Surface / Kerbside) $80 $165
Restricted Zone / Car-lite Precinct (Sheltered) $110 $190
Designated Area (Surface / Kerbside) $80 $150
Designated Area (Sheltered) $110 $170
Rest of the Island (Surface / Kerbside) $80 $90
Rest of Island (Sheltered) $110 $120
Special Precinct $95 $105
Industrial Park (Multi-storey Carpark) $110 $120
Centralised Lorry Park $80 $90

Decided to apply for HDB season parking? Your next step is to understand the order of priority for the allocation of parking lots. This system ensures that everyone gets a fair share of parking lots while giving priority to HDB residents. Here’s a quick rundown on the different priority groups and their respective booking dates:

1) First priority group
The first priority group refers to the first vehicle owned by any of the following individuals:

  • HDB flat owners, tenants, authorised occupiers, and approved tenants of whole flats
  • Registered tenants of HDB commercial and industrial premises
  • Market and hawker stallholders
  • Employees of HDB’s shops/offices

The booking date for the first priority group starts from the first of the month.

2) Second priority group
The second priority group refers to the second and subsequent vehicle owned by any of the following individuals:

  • HDB flat owners, tenants, and authorised occupiers
  • Registered shop tenants

The booking date for the second priority group starts from the 18th of the month.

3) Third priority group
The third priority group refers to any of the following individuals:

  • Residents who do not own a vehicle
  • Tenants of rooms of flat
  • Non-residents

The booking date for the third priority group starts from the 21st of the month.

Before applying for your HDB season parking, run a quick check on the Season Parking Availability e-Service to confirm if your preferred carpark is available. Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to apply for your season parking! Here are 2 easy ways to do so:

1) HDB e-Service
Log in to the Application for New Service Parking e-Service using your SingPass.

2) HDB’s official mobile app (Mobile@HDB)
Download Mobile@HDB on App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

HDB accepts standard payment methods like credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or direct debit (only DBS, UOB, OCBC and Standard Chartered Bank). Once you’ve made payment, your season parking takes effect right away. Just log in to MyHDB page using your SingPass to confirm your season parking validity and you’re all set.

💡 Pro-tip: Season parking applications work on a first-come, first-served basis. For carparks with high demand, remember to apply as soon as the booking period starts.

How to renew your HDB season parking

A month later, it’ll be time to renew your HDB season parking. Renewal of season parking works on a month-to-month basis, but you can also choose to renew it for up to 1 year, depending on your eligibility and parking space availability. Here are 2 ways you can renew your season parking.

1) Auto-renewal
Auto-renewal saves the hassle of manually renewing your season parking at the end of each month. It can be done via the following methods:

2) Manual renewal

In addition to these methods, you can also pay for your season parking renewal via PayNow using SingPass (only applicable to Bank of China, Citibank, DBS, HSBC, ICBC, Maybank, OCBC, Standard Chartered Bank, and UOB).

💡 Pro-tip: Remember to keep track of your renewal date! If you renew late, you’ll still be charged for the full month along with non-refundable short-term parking charges.

How to transfer your season parking

Good news – if you’re switching cars or moving houses, you don’t actually have to reapply for a new HDB season parking! Unless you just changed your car’s In-vehicle Unit (IU) number or got a new car while keeping your same old car registration number, swing by the IU e-service instead. If not, simply apply for a transfer of your HDB season parking. For a permanent change like a new car or house, go for the permanent transfer of season parking (PTSP). If it’s a temporary change, like using a replacement car or a short stay elsewhere, opt for a temporary transfer of season parking (TTSP).

Quick heads-up though, the temporary transfer is only good for up to 31 days so it’s not meant for long-term or frequent use. Make sure to also prepare some supporting documents in case they ask for them! Here’s a bit of a downer – if you’re requesting for a carpark group of a higher season parking rate (like from a surface carpark to a multi-storey carpark), you may have to cough out a top-up fee. On the bright side, if it’s not an upgrade, you won’t have to pay a dime! To send in a request for a transfer of season parking, head to their respective e-services – PPTSP e-service or TTSP e-service, or use their Mobile@HDB app. Make your payment and you’re ready to roll! 🚗💨

💡 Pro-tip: Double-check your submission when applying for a temporary transfer of season! If you need to make any changes to your temporary season parking, you’ll need to go through the hassle of cancelling it and reapplying for a temporary transfer.

How to cancel your season parking

If you need to cancel your HDB season parking, simply request for a refund and termination of your season parking or do so via the Mobile@HDB app. Your refund will be calculated from the day after the request to terminate was made.

However, please note that if you had purchased your season parking on a pro-rated basis for the current month plus subsequent month(s), you’ll not be allowed to terminate the pro-rated season parking (for the current month and 1 subsequent month).

For example, if you purchased your season parking on 17 April to 30 June, you’ll not be allowed to terminate it from 17 April to 31 May — you’ll only be allowed to terminate your season parking from 1 June to 30 June.

Refunds of unused season parking charges will be sent to you by:

  • PayNow (immediate)
  • Interbank transfer (within 2 weeks)
