Whenever my friends and I meet up at Jurong East, we somehow always end up eating at JEM and never at Westgate. Why? I have no idea. It always felt like the ~cooler~ option, maybe. This month, we went out of our way to actually explore Westgate, and to our surprise, so much of it has changed from the last time we were there! The next time you’re at Jurong East, take the chance to check out these underrated food spots, and who knows, maybe you’ll find your next favourite meal.

01 • Sushi Zushi

(Photo: Sushi Zushi)

This is not your typical conveyor-belt sushi — in fact, there’s no conveyor belt at all. Sushi Zushi has a unique omakase-inspired concept where chefs prepare your order right in front of you, which includes skewering and grilling fresh seafood over a traditional sand grill. But don’t think this place is all fancy-shmancy. When they just opened last year, they actually held a $1 sushi promotion, which was SO worth it. Their regular prices are still pretty reasonable too, starting from $3 for a 2-piece.

📍 Address: 3 Gateway Drive, #03-01 Westgate, Singapore 608532
Opening hours: Daily, 11.30am – 4pm & 5.30pm – 9.30pm

Flipper’s is also celebrating their 10th anniversary this year (congratulations!). They’re in the process of crafting a special anniversary strawberry pancake, so look out for an ultra-special drop coming soon.
