Bugis isn’t just a shopping haven — it’s a paradise for food lovers too, and we’ve crafted a diverse list of food in the Bugis area that you should try. Bugis food spots that are too good to miss

01 • Wakuwaku Yakiniku (halal)

(Photo: Wakuwaku.sg)

Wakuwaku Yakiniku is Singapore’s first halal Japanese BBQ, located near Haji Lane. The star of the show is the premium A5 Wagyu beef that’s flown in directly from Japan to ensure freshness and melt-in-your-mouth perfection.

In addition to BBQ, Wakuwaku Yakiniku also serves a variety of mains — from comforting Donburi options to flavourful miso ramen. Pair the dishes with their sweet and savoury in-house yakiniku sauce, which has a nutty sesame flavour that works perfectly with the savoury dishes.

Don’t worry if you’re heading down with the whole squad. The 2 floors of seating in the restaurant will more than accommodate everyone.

02 • Mama Diam

(Photo: Mama Diam)

Tucked away like a best-kept secret, Mama Diam isn’t just about its intimate, dimly lit atmosphere; it’s also known for its refreshing menu that constantly changes.

By day, this restaurant serves set lunches that will put you in a pleasant food coma. Choose between a 2- or 3-course meal featuring unique starters like Laksa Pumpkin Soup and mains like Chicken Poached Rice (a daring twist on traditional chicken rice). Wash down with their free-flow coffee, tea, or juices.

By night, the dinner menu rolls out delicacies like Tempura Otah, Assam Pan-Seared Barramundi, and Hainanese Pork Chop, just to name a few. Don’t miss their popular drinks, like Kopi Gao Martini and Pandan Paradise, which put a playful spin on local favourites.

💡 Pro tip: Please let someone else handle the wheel if you’re planning to consume alcohol.

03 • Wild Honey

(Photo: Wild Honey)

Inspired by Southern California living, Wild Honey brings a piece of Los Angeles to our backyard, through their decor and the indulgent, all-day brunch menu. Their Brittany French Toast, stuffed with a chocolate hazelnut spread, bananas, and salted caramel mascarpone, is a must-try.

If you’re in the mood for something hearty, the Spanish Hash — a combination of poached eggs, chorizo, corned beef, and caramelised onions — is pure comfort on a plate. On the other hand, the Wild Honey Niçoise salad with poached Norwegian salmon is a solid pick if you’re not a big eater.

Obviously, it won’t be SoCal living if you don’t pair your meal with a beverage and Wild Honey will have you spoilt for choice with anything from fresh juices and mocktails to artisanal coffees. Our top recommendations are the Princess Smoothie with mixed berries and the decadent Cookies & Cream milkshake.

05 • Cappadocia Turkish Restaurant (halal)

There’s no shortage of Turkish cuisine in Singapore, but Cappadocia stands out for its authenticity and exceptionally delicious menu. We recommend starting with some appetizers such as the Hummus served with Ekmek (Turkish bread), or some Borek (feta stuffed pastry rolls).

For mains, choose from a variety of Pidelers (Turkish pizzas), meaty kebabs, and rice dishes like Lamb or Beef Mandi (spiced Arabic rice with meat). Their menu boasts a huge variety of dishes, so we recommend getting sharing platters to try a little of everything.

Remember to leave room for dessert because the crispy Baklava, stuffed with pistachios and drenched in sweet syrup, is rich and sinful.

06 • Fika Swedish Cafe and Bistro (halal)

(Photo: Fika)

If you thought Swedish food in Singapore could only be found in Sweden, let us introduce you to Fika. This humble halal eatery whips up some mean Nordic cuisine like juicy meatballs, comforting Swedish Lamb Stew, and the classic Plankstek (juicy black angus and mash served with béarnaise sauce).

If you’re swinging by for breakfast, go for the signature Fika Breakfast which consists of eggs benedict with hollandaise, bacon, focaccia bread, sauteed potatoes, and more. Pair the plate with a dirty chai, and you’ll be set to start the day strong.
Don’t forget to grab some pastries before you leave. Their artisanal desserts and bakes will have you wishing for a second stomach.

The best part about their Bingsu options is that they’re not too sweet, not too icy, and are packed with a generous amount of toppings. If you’re feeling peckish, they also serve savoury bites like Tteokbokki and Kimbap to munch on.

Sometimes, you just need breakfast dishes at 4pm, and that’s not an insane wish, right? Thankfully, Mondays SG has your back with an all-day brunch menu, so you can enjoy pancakes, eggs benedict, and all your other breakfast cravings at any time of the day.

For a sweet treat, try their Biscoff Bonanza Crepe, complete with caramelised bananas and Biscoff crumbles. If you’re feeling something savoury, the Rosti Meats Chilli Con Carne should be on your radar. The crispy potato rosti is topped with minced beef, poached eggs, cheddar, tomatoes, and other goodnesses.

09 • Twenty Grammes

(Photo: Twenty Grammes)

Everyone needs a go-to spot for a quick waffle and ice cream fix, and our’s is Twenty Grammes. Their waffles are crispy and buttery on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside. They occasionally rotate ice cream and sorbet flavours, but some crowd favourites are Earl Grey, pistachio, and chamomile.

Another unmissable pick is the unique black sesame mousse that’s nutty, sweet, and surprisingly addictive.

10 • Positano Risto

(Photo: Positano Risto)

Big flavours, bold dishes, and a taste of Italy. That’s what you can expect when you walk into Positano Risto in Bugis. The restaurant’s top picks are the Amalfi Baked Chicken, a spicy and succulent oven-baked dish, and the creamy, cheesy Crabmeat Mac & Cheese.

If you’re a pizza junkie, the Positano Signature is a must-try. This unique pizza consists of an 8-pointed star sourdough that’s topped with pepperoni, turkey ham, arugula, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and homemade burrata.

Of course, no meal is complete without dessert, and their Panna Cotta is a silky vanilla dream, served with a sweet-tangy mixed berry coulis. If caramel is more your thing, their Crème Brûlée might be your new favourite, with its caramelised sugar top and creamy custard base.

11 • Xiao Long Kan Hotpot

(Photo: FoodGem)

What’s better than a hotpot? A hotpot with flavourful broths, thinly sliced meats, and an endless spread of ingredients! Xiao Long Kan Hotpot in Bugis Cube is open 24/7, so you can satisfy your cravings whenever they hit you.

Dive into a spread of cheese tofu, fresh veggies, dumplings, noodles of all kinds, and even frog legs for the adventurous. For a broth that packs a punch, we recommend the rich tomato soup and the spicy butter base. Both are loaded with bold flavours and will get your blood pumping in no time.

Our hack is to cook the meats in the butter broth — which will result in buttery, creamy meat that melts in your mouth. You can thank us later.

12 • Café Monochrome

(Photo: EATBOOK)

Step into a real-life sketchbook at Café Monochrome, where every inch of the hand-drawn interior makes for the perfect photo op. It doesn’t just end with the aesthetics, though, as the menu is just as impressive.

Dig into the Smoked Duck Pasta. This dish offers tender slices of duck tossed in a rich and savoury sauce. Alternatively, spice things up with the Laksa Crayfish Pasta, where a creamy laksa sauce coats al dente noodles and juicy crayfish. If you’re looking for something lighter, their flavourful udon or rosti dishes will tick all your boxes.

Pair your meal with their speciality coffee, meticulously ground and brewed in-house. Another bestseller is the Dirty Matcha Latte, a fusion of earthy matcha and robust espresso. Don’t leave without trying their ice cream or crispy waffles for a sweet finishing touch.

13 • Husk Nasi Lemak (halal)

(Photo: SETHLUI)

As the name suggests, this restaurant’s speciality is the beloved Nasi Lemak. Each plate comes with fragrant, coconut-infused basmati rice, crispy anchovies, crunchy peanuts, a soft-boiled egg, and their signature sambal that’s slightly sweet yet packs a fiery punch that follows.

Complete your plate with a meat of choice — from the Signature Chicken Cutlet and Beef Rendang to the sinful Mutton Curry. Husk also sells à la carte dishes that you can add to the Nasi Lemak sets, ideal for those craving a variety of meats.

At the end of the meal, if you find yourself hooked on their signature sambal chilli, as many before you have, you can purchase a bottle to bring home and enjoy anytime.

14 • D.O.C

(Photo: D.O.C)

Put D.O.C at the top of your list if you want to experience authentic Italian food. Apart from the incredible interior, which includes a feature wall of Italian wines, the menu is full of delicious and unique dishes.

A must-try is the Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi e Nocci, made with walnuts and a four-cheese cream sauce, including a hint of blue cheese that gives it a subtle punch. For a tangy contrast to the creaminess of the gnocchi, go for the Polpetta al Pomodoro, a large beef meatball in a vibrant tomato sauce.

It would be wrong to dine at D.O.C without trying a wood-fired pizza. We recommend the Parma Rucola pizza, topped with mozzarella, parma ham, and rocket salad. The combination delivers the perfect balance of salty, earthy, and savoury flavours. Wrap up by indulging in their bittersweet lava cake that’s as delicious as it looks.
