The city sleeps. While most of Singapore is still tucked under their covers, the gentle hum of rubber on asphalt marks the start of a Saturday adventure. Have you ever felt that sudden, inexplicable urge to just keep moving?

Because Singapore is teeming with hidden park connectors and coastal paths that are just waiting to be explored, finding the right set of wheels is the first step toward reclaiming your weekends from the clutches of your bedsheets. Whether you are a casual cruiser or someone who dreams of carbon fibre frames, we’ve talked to bicycle aficionados and did a little scouting of our own to help you in your search for bicycle stores.

01 Hello, Bicycle! for the urban explorer

Style and substance can meet. If you think that a bike should look just as good leaning against a cafe wall as it does on the road, then this is your sanctuary. Quickly, I found myself drawn to their collection of sleek, minimalist Linus and Tokyobike models that seem perfectly designed for the narrow streets of Tiong Bahru.

Ready to ride? While some people prefer the aggressive posture of a racing bike, the upright seating position of an urban cruiser allows you to actually see the world passing you by. Plus, you can even fit a cute basket on the front for all your barang.

02 Hup Leong Co. for the heritage seekers

Nestled in a corner of Chinatown, this legendary shop has been around since 1968, meaning that the mechanics there probably know more about gear ratios than I know about my phone settings. Because they have seen every cycling trend come and go over the decades, the advice you get here is grounded in actual experience rather than just marketing fluff.

Across the island, cyclists speak of this place in hushed, respectful tones. Over the years, their bread and butter has shifted to cater to high-performance cyclists and their endless need for better (and pricier) gear. If you’ve been cycling for a while and want to up your game, there’s no better place.

03 The Bike Atrium for foldable bikes

(Photo: The Bike Atrium)

Located in the heartland, this shop serves as a gathering spot for enthusiasts who live and breathe cycling. When I visited, the atmosphere was buzzing with talk of upcoming group rides. It also specialises in foldable bikes, making it the place to go for the city-savvy cyclist.

Since this is also one of the places to use your CDC vouchers, it is a fantastic spot for young drivers to pick up essentials like helmets or lights without breaking the bank, and the friendly staff are always happy to show beginners how to perform basic maintenance like lubing a chain.

04 Pro Cycle Bikes for the performance junkies

Speed is key. If your idea of a good time involves tracking your heart rate and chasing "Personal Bests" on Strava, then this is the place where your dreams (and perhaps your wallet) will take flight. Although the high-end road bikes here look like they belong in a spaceship hangar, the performance they offer is absolutely undeniable. They even sell pre-owned bikes, making high-performance more attainable for the would-be Armstrongs among us.

📍 Address: 111 Jalan Bukit Merah, #01-4444 Brickworks Estate, Singapore 150011

05 Decathlon Singapore Lab for the all-rounder

(Photo: Owen Chua)

Value is king. If you’ve been into a neighbourhood mall in the last few years, you’re probably familiar with Decathlon. However, its massive flagship store in Kallang needs to be seen to be believed. It offers everything from entry-level mountain bikes to specialized racing gear, making it the perfect starting point for anyone who is still testing the waters of the cycling world.

Grab some all-purpose gear while you’re there. While specialised boutiques are great, there is a distinct comfort in knowing you can grab a reliable inner tube and a new pair of padded shorts for the price of a decent lunch. Plus, you can even test ride the bikes around the store to see which frame size feels just right for your height.

📍 Address: 230 Stadium Boulevard, Singapore 397799
Opening hours: 9am – 11pm, Mon to Thurs | 9am – 12am, Fri to Sun

06 Brompton Junction for the commuter on the go

Fold and go. Imagine a world where your bicycle fits neatly into the corner of your favourite cafe or under your desk at work. While many people think a folding bike is just a compromise, the British-engineered Bromptons found at this futuristic Funan store prove that you can have incredible speed and comfort in a package that collapses in under twenty seconds. Funan is also one of the coolest places to test your new bicycle if you’re there before 10am, as it has a cycling path that cuts straight through the mall.

📍 Address: 107 North Bridge Road, #01-26 Funan, Singapore 179105
Opening hours: 11am – 9pm daily

07 Coast Cycles for the design lover

(Photo: Teerapan Leelavansuk)

Pure aesthetic joy. Tucked away in the quiet streets of Siglap, this shop feels more like an art gallery than a bicycle store. Because they design and prototype many of their own frames right here in Singapore, every bike you see has a unique personality that blends rugged durability with a minimalist look that is bound to turn heads at traffic lights. If you’ve got a need for speed, they also have an extensive range of electric bikes. And if you’re a pedal-power purist who scoffs at the thought of automated zoomies… well, don’t knock it until you try it!

Hungry for more? After you browse their collection of chunky-tired adventure bikes, you can hop over to the adjacent cafe for a quick caffeine fix. I highly recommend their iced lattes, because they provide the perfect mid-ride boost before you head back out onto the road.

📍 Address: 54 Siglap Drive, Singapore 456176
Opening hours: 9am – 6pm, Mon to Fri | Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
