New on the GetGo app: Identity verification for a safer driving experience

GetGo was born from a simple question — why can’t everyone experience the freedom to drive? Since then, we’ve travelled quite the distance and have been working hard towards giving our users the best service possible.

So, it was only a matter of time until we took your security to the next level. Read more to learn about our latest feature. 💪

📱 Improved security of user accounts

In our latest app enhancement, we’ve worked with GovTech and Jumio to add identity verification to our app. This new security feature will require you to verify your identity by submitting a selfie in the GetGo app.

By verifying your identity, you’ll be helping us improve the security of your GetGo account and deter errant users from misusing our service — so that you can enjoy a safer carsharing experience.

Identity verification for existing users

If you’ve already been using our service, you’ll be required to verify your identity by submitting a selfie in our app.

Please follow the steps in the app to do so.

Important:

  • This feature will be rolled out in phases for existing GetGoers, so we advise you not to be alarmed if you don’t see a prompt to verify your identity immediately
  • You’ll be given a grace period until 9 February 2023 to verify your identity in order to continue using our service
  • To ensure ongoing security, we’ll also require you to verify your identity in the app from time to time

Identity verification for new GetGoers

New users signing up for a GetGo account from 9 January 2023 onwards will be required to verify their identity by submitting a selfie in our app before they can make the first booking.

🔒 Safeguarding your privacy

We take your privacy very seriously and make huge efforts to protect it.

Your biometric information is not stored by us and is securely handled by our partners at GovTech and Jumio.

We only store your personal data for as long as you have a GetGo account. We’ll erase your data upon closing your account in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By law, there is certain information that we may keep for longer — such as information related to payment transactions, for fraud detection, or for safety reasons.

We also never share your personal data with a third party without a valid business or legal reason, a data sharing agreement in place, or your consent.
