Seletar Mall food is the kind of problem I enjoy having. The mall sits right next to Fernvale LRT, a two-minute walk from the platform, and its directory lists roughly 49 eateries spread across six floors.
So. Here’s my shortlist of Seletar Mall food, everything from soup dumplings to Taiwanese braised pork rice to a very good bowl of taro balls.
01 · Din Tai Fung

Obvious picks first. You already know Din Tai Fung, and the Seletar Mall outlet turns out the same food as the branches in town, but without the same queues. The Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao is the reason most people come. Each dumpling has thin, pleated skin holding hot broth and a nugget of seasoned pork. Order the Fried Rice with Pork Chop too. It is a mountain of well-separated grains with a crisp, generously sized chop on the side.
One quibble. The pork chop can occasionally lean a little dry, so I always ask for extra of their chilli-vinegar-ginger combination to keep every bite lively. Portions are fair, and the service is to die for (what do you mean there are 2 different waiters for food and drinks?)

02 · Song Fa Bak Kut Teh

Song Fa began in 1969 as a Johor Road pushcart, and its New Bridge Road flagship has held the Michelin Bib Gourmand for seven consecutive years, and easily tops my personal GOAT list for bak kut teh. This Seletar branch was one of the mall's original tenants. The Pork Ribs Soup is clear, hot, and heavy on white pepper; the kind that warms you from the inside on a wet Sengkang evening, and the ribs are tender enough to slide off the bone. Broth here is free-flow too, so keep topping up.
Get the braised pig's trotters if you want something richer. Dip a youtiao into the soup and let it soak. My grandfather would approve.

03 · Eighteen Chefs

Eighteen Chefs opened its Seletar Mall outlet in August 2025, and it’s already become a favourite of families and students most evenings. The cheese baked rice is the signature, a bubbling bake with a proper stretch when you pull your spoon away. The salted egg dishes are worth your attention too. Portions are generous, and prices are nett, which means no GST or service charges sneaking up on you at the cashier.

04 · Xiang Xiang Hunan Cuisine

For something beyond the usual mall fare, Xiang Xiang serves bold, spicy Hunan food. It began in 2009 as a small Hunan restaurant on Smith Street in Chinatown, and by 2026 has grown to 22 outlets across Singapore. The Hunan-Style Fried Pork is an easy go-to, with tender slices of Iberico black pork, stir-fried with green pepper and a special Yunnan fungus, savoury with a slow-building heat that never overwhelms.
Try the Homemade Preserved Egg with Chilli if you want that heat to climb a little higher. Like Haidilao, they hand out complimentary snacks and ice cream, which is a nice touch.

05 · Haidilao for hotpot that runs almost around the clock

You know Haidilao. The Seletar Mall outlet opens till the early hours, and the waiting area comes with the usual perks: a free manicure, popcorn, and a drink while you queue, plus a traditional face-changing performance in the evenings. The tomato soup base is a fan favourite, creamy and tangy, and the handmade prawn paste is a must-order. If you’re trying to save money, be sure to pick the plain water base for one of your 4 soups.

06 · Ramen Hitoyoshi

Tucked into a kiosk unit on the second floor, Ramen Hitoyoshi does an affordable bowl of tonkotsu that punches way above its weight class. The broth is thick and creamy from hours of simmering. I typically go for the Garlic Tonkotsu, which comes with black fungus, tender chashu, and a marinated egg. The best part? Free-flow marinated beansprouts and sweet corn on the side.

07. Eat 3 Bowls

Eat 3 Bowls started life as a humble hawker stall, and its Seletar Mall outlet brings proper Taiwanese street food to Sengkang. The Braised Pork Rice is the one to get, sporting fatty pork belly braised for hours until it melts, spooned over sticky short-grain rice. Simple and deeply satisfying.
The Oyster and Pig Intestine Mee Sua is my other favourite, a silky, bonito-rich bowl topped with plump oysters and minced garlic. For the extra-ambitious, the titular 3 bowls aren’t just for show, either; get the signature trio combo if you want to try a bit of everything.

08 · Ha-Jun Korean

If you want Korean food without the fine-dining prices, Ha-Jun is your spot. It’s a casual, self-service setup where you order at the counter, and most dishes come in at under ten dollars. The sizzling Hotplate Beef Set is the popular pick, served hot with rice. The dolgot bibimbap in a stone pot is worth a try too, especially if you like scraping up the crispy rice at the bottom. Nobody here is pretending to be a Seoul institution, and at these prices, do you really mind?

09 · Texas Chicken

Sometimes you just want fried chicken. Texas Chicken is halal-certified, and the chicken is fried in small batches throughout the day, so you’re guaranteed a crispy bite no matter when you show up. The honey butter biscuits are crumbly and sweet with a salty edge, and frankly so good that you almost wish they’d call this place Texas Biscuits instead. Grab a family set if you’re feeding a crowd.

10 · Nine Fresh

End on something sweet. Nine Fresh specialises in Taiwanese desserts, and its chewy handmade taro balls are the highlight. Build your own bowl with a base of beancurd, grass jelly, or ai-yu jelly, then pile on toppings. The Nine Fresh Signature is a classic, refreshing without being cloying, exactly what you want after a heavy meal in this heat.
Prices are gentle on the wallet, and there is a loyalty stamp card if you become a regular. A few reviewers feel prices have crept up over the years. Maybe they have a point, but it’ll take a lot more than that to stop me from coming back 🤤
