If you’re up for some good scares this Halloween season, we have some recommendations ranging from haunted houses and tours to escape rooms and more. Here are 5 places to visit for some scary good Halloween fun! 👻

01 • Survive Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios

Not including Halloween Horror Nights on this list would be a crime as it’s the definitive event for getting your scare on. After a 2-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Halloween Horror Nights is back with several terrifying themes that’ll have you and your friends screaming with fright. 😱

This year’s event has 3 new haunted houses featuring a twisted serial killer called the “Killustrator”, a zombie-themed adventure pitting special forces against the undead, and a creepy hotel haunted by the malevolent spirit of its former mistress.

There are also 2 zones centred around dark versions of the zodiac and a jungle hunt for the vengeful pontianak.

Halloween Horror Nights only runs from 30 September till 5 November, so book soon! If you’re a Maybank customer, you can get tickets at a special price of $50 (Non-peak) and $60 (Peak) per person. You can book your tickets here

02 • Go on a spooky ghost-hunting tour at night

The Creepy Tales of Singapore Ghost Hunting Tour is self-explanatory, isn’t it? True to its name, this 3-hour guided tour will take you to some unsettling places with very dark history.

Your tour guide will take you on a narrated tour of 3 creepy locations including a secluded hillside where people have lost their lives, a beachside coastal gun battery where thousands were massacred during the Japanese occupation, and a Chinese cemetery filled with over 100,000 tombs. 😰

If you’re thinking of taking the tour, it’s better to experience it with friends (as there’s safety in numbers and it also brings down the ticket price a bit).

03 • Use your wits to break out of a sinistrous escape room

Many horror movies start on a similar note — several friends or strangers are locked in a room and must solve a puzzle to escape, or else they ALL die! The good news is that you can have a similar experience with your friends that doesn’t actually involve any harm to your lives.

Xcape, Singapore’s largest escape room operator, has several games available this Halloween season to give you the horror movie vibes you’re looking for. You can escape from a haunted morgue, end the curse of the possessed doll Annabelle, try to escape a zombie infestation in time to board the Busan Express,  and more.

Each escape room game lasts 60 to 90 minutes per session and takes up to 8 people to play. Time slots fill up fast, so it’s a good idea to book well in advance to get your desired slot.

04 • Celebrate Halloween with good cinema at The Projector

(Photo: The Projector)

There are plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween without actively seeking out the pontianak at Universal Studios or visiting haunted graveyards at night. If you’re a bit less adventurous but still enjoy the adrenaline rush that a good horror movie gives, then you’ll definitely want to check out The Projector’s “HALLOWEENIE” lineup.📽️

This year’s main attraction are two cult classics that have been restored in 4K. The Lost Boys is considered to be one of the best modern vampire movies, and features Kiefer Sutherland as the menacing leader of a gang of teenage vampires (or is he?). Poltergeist is another classic horror film about a family who experiences terrifying supernatural encounters because their home is built on a Native American burial ground.

Feel free to dress up as your favourite horror movie character when catching the screenings for The Lost Boys, Poltergeist, and Troll 2 from 29 to 30 October as The Projector will be giving out “Best Dressed” prizes.

📍 Address: The Projector X: Picturehouse, The Cathay, 2 Handy Road #05-01, Singapore 229233
